In case you were one of the people wondering!

Regarding Journalfen being down, I checked with the JF admins, and this is what I was told:

It's not down for good. They had to cancel the old servers while migrating to the new ones, because double server payments were too expensive. The problem is that the old LJ code is too hard to install on modern servers now, so they're going to have to try to get a dreamwidth codebase installed and then find a way to import the old entries.

So it's only the old LJ codebase that's gone for good. Evidently it will be tricky importing all the old entries and comments, and it might take a while, but they're pretty sure they can do it!

There should be a placeholder up at soon, explaining this! HERE IT IS!

I have a post to this effect on, but, so you know:

The communities aren't working very well on the new playground. I had intended just to wait until everything was restored, but, as that may be awhile, decided to go ahead and claim my account. When I tried to rejoin communities, it didn't work, although they said they had open membership. I requested access to f_w, otf_w, and cw (also deathwatch). I had mentioned trying to join f_l, and ended up with admin access to that, as well. I was able to change them all to actually be open membership so people can join. I assumed I'd just be able to pass f_l on to cesare, you, cleolinda, phosfate, etc., but:

Unfortunately, I can't see or modify community member lists. They show as blank, and attempts to send invites don't work (if you were to join, I couldn't set you as admin/moderator in the normal way, and it looks like the dreamwidth console won't let me do anything with permissions). At the moment, I think you all would need to ask system/guineapig to add you as admins/moderators (using the console) after claiming accounts on

I fiddled a bit with changing the community email with deathwatch. I'm able to do it there, and can probably change it for the wank communities when they're working properly. Unfortunately, I appear to be the community "owner" which I was not expecting. Since I need to use my password to allow community email changes, and there are very definitely problems, I'm concerned about locking myself out by setting it to an email I can't access (the mods@thefannish email). It might be easiest to have system set one of you as the community owner as well as admin+moderator using the console, if you care. I assume that we'll end up with something with normal settings when we get the new version of with the old data restored, though.

Oh, okay! Thank you for letting me know. I did create a journal, so I'll head over there and see what I can do about getting access. Also, I think you're supposed to have access to, so I'll check with Sep on that too.

Community member management is working now (yay!) so I have added you as an admin to fandom_wank, otf_wank, fandom_lounge, and clairvoyantwank. Also appears you have been added as admin to the communities you requested, but you'll have to set them to be open membership to make them joinable.
